lastest version of Press with legacy data, be sure to change all of your competitor's kilo body weights

10/28/2004:
Competitor Entry Form.
Placed a restriction on the body weight fields that prevents the entry of negative values.
10/11/2004:
Update to the way bodyweight in Kilos is handled through the Competitor Entry form, and weight class is handled
through the Weight Class setup tab.
First of all, conversion is based on 2.2046 pounds (lb) per kilo. Each entry is rounded down to the nearest
quarter for pounds and to the nearest tenth for kilos; for example, 107.5 kilos multiplied by 2.2046
equals 236.9945, but the poundage is rounded to 236.75 rather than 237.
Stay tuned for the next update to Press 4.0 where reporting of converted attempts (pounds to kilos or kilos
to pounds) will also incorporate this rounding methodology. Currently, Press 4.0 converts attempts for reporting
by multiplying or dividing by 2.2046.

Below is a customer's email response to Whitelightsoft in reference
to a question pertaining to a recent event...
It went very well. I don't know if I told you before, but a handful of us are
trying to vastly improve the quality of meets for the Minnesota USAPL. So far
our efforts have been very well received and your software can take much of the
credit. Your software:
- speeds up the meet
- increases accuracy
- helps the audience (standings)
- helps the lifters (up to the minute flight info)
- really shines at award time (dramatically speeds up the process)
I will send you the results soon.
Here a few suggestions and observations:
- The conversion from kilo-pounds in the competitors form is 2.2lb/1kg instead
of 2.2046lb/1kg
- You should be able to program an automatic refresh into your macro or stored
procedure, so you can eliminate the prepare and refresh buttons on the
"run event" form.
- I tested the "run meet" screen on a 27" tv to show the lifters the flight
order in the prep area. However the fonts are just too small to display well
on a tv, it requires a projector with a VGA connection. Perhaps you could
make a different form for the expeditor that would only list the next 10-12
lifters in a large font that would fill the whole screen. That way it could
be displayed on a tv and look a little cleaner. I attached a table that
shows what I'm talking about. The grayed lifter at the top has completed
the lift and will fall off as soon as his next attempt is entered. You could
also build in a timer if you wanted. I don't know how much time is allowed
in other feds, but the USAPL only allows 1 minute for the lifter to get in
his/her next attempt. That rule has been extremely abused at most of the
meets I've been to.
Please don't take my suggestions as harsh criticism. I do web design and used
to do some DB design, and I love criticism.
Thanks,
Tom Hines

A customer's recent email to Whitelightsoft...
Don:
Congratulation.........!!!!! The new version worked great! and was impressive.
Have you put any more thought in the idea of identifying flights as by Session
then by Flight I, Flight 2, etc:
Session I
Flight 1
Flight 2
Session 2
Flight 1
Flight 2
Flight 3
I set up this weekends as individual Sessions and then had to copy each Session
back and forth to /whitelights/press to do each session. Works fine for that,
but then "Best Lifter," and "Team Reports" come out by session and have to be
added together at the end of the meet. Something to think about.
Again, congratualations!!!!!!!!
Tim
PS - I have the AAPF World's in Las Vegas coming up Mar. 21.

A customer's recent email to Whitelightsoft...
Hi, guy:
Got to use the newest version at the Ironman we held in Fresno
last weekend. A couple of notes and/or questions:
1. "Disqualified" doesn't print on the single lift results.
In our case "Bench Only."
2. Still would be nice to have an input screen for "Meet",
"Date", and "Location" so as to have this information printed
as a header on each page of the reports Right now, I have
to print to Acrobat and then redo the header (see attached)
3. Is it possible to print the "search" screen showing all the
lifters and all of their lift attempts to an "Excel" file?
More of our publishers (Powerlifting USA) are asking for the
full results.
4. Is it possible to print the best lifter results by Division?
For example, this week I had Best Lifters for Men, Women,
Junior/Teen and Masters. I'm not sure how to select on
Division because our division set up like "Masters 40-45"
other than just print the results by division and let us
pick out what we need from there. Any Ideas?
This is all I have for now. Where are you planning on going next?
Hope to hear from you soon. The new version is GREAT!
Tim
